Sites Like Fortune Coins
Social casino sites like Fortune Coins are all the rage in the USA and Canada, mainly because of all the restrictions placed on real money online casinos by those two national governments. So, if, for some reason, Fortune Coins doesn’t tick all of your boxes, here are some of the most popular sites that have similar themes: Funzpoints, Pulsz Casino, Wow Vegas, and Chumba Casino.
Other Sites Like Fortune Coins
Although these sites are popular, it’s a mixed bag. Some are great, and others are mediocre or downright bad. But we wanted to give you many options so you know what’s out there. Remember that we’re comparing them to what might be considered the very best social casino in North America. The standard must be high for one or more of these social casinos to get our nod.
When looking at the social casino scene in North America, there are many options. You might have read our reviews of other sites that didn’t quite hit the mark due to poor RTP options, lousy customer support, or a lack of game selection. Well, here’s a spoiler: Fortune Coins USA is arguably the best social casino open to (most) US citizens and Canadians. Nobody else reaches the heights of professionalism that Fortune Coins has reached.
The Fortune Coins Sister Casinos (Reviewed)
In a not so surprising twist, Fortune Coins doesn’t have any direct sister casinos. There are a lot of sites out there trying to bend logic and reason to tell you that there are Fortune Coin sister sites, but it’s simply a lie.
‘Blazesoft’. ‘Social Gaming LLC’ and ‘Social Gaming LTD’ only own and run Fortune Coins. Period. Mickey Blayvas owns Blazesoft, and his other ventures are in the insurance and mentoring fields. So that’s a dead end.
That said, we can offer you some sites similar to Fortune Coins. This is an excellent exercise to compare and contrast the site to some of the more ‘average’ social casinos in North America and some of the top contenders in the field.
Funzpoints is a social casino with an ‘unlock’ system that gives you a basic set of games that you can play and allows you to use micro transactions to unlock others that you find entertaining.
Only around 20% of the platform’s games can be played using Standard points without additional micro transactions. So you can play the ‘core’ games, pay for an upgrade, or use Premium Funzpoints on those other games (more on the two-tier credit system later). The site has around 100 games as of early September 2023, and 80 are locked to people with new accounts.
Most of the available games are between 94% and 96% RTP. That’s average for the industry, but paying to unlock and play these machines could be more enjoyable.
This is different from the model that we would have preferred. Particularly when you consider that there are no major branded games available. That’s right, most games on Funzpoints are developed in-house or by a single minor third-party studio. So, if you aren’t paying to unlock the licensing of popular games from the big studios, why pay at all?
Funzpoints has two kinds of credits: Standard Funzpoints, which are used like play money, and Premium Funzpoints, which are part of their sweepstakes system.
You can spin the Bonus Wheel once every three hours to get more Standard Funzpoints and some tickets for their Sweepstakes draws. You win an additional Premium Funzpoint for each 500 Standard Funzpoints earned.
When playing a ten-credit machine, you can ‘reload’ with ten extra Standard Funzpoints if you dip below the minimum play threshold. It takes 5 seconds and a few menu clicks, which earns you… 10 points. It’s ludicrously slow and tedious.
Because it’s part of the sweepstakes, Premium Funzpoints can be earned by requesting free Sweepstakes entries. You can do this once every five business days. The details are on their Sweepstakes rules page, but rest assured they’ve taken measures so the process can’t be automated.
Funzpoints has a Trustpilot score of 3.3 out of 5 stars, on our list’s low end of the social casinos. The tedium of getting extra free points 10 at a time, needing to use the money to unlock most of the games, and having no good licensed slots contribute to this score.
But the primary source of complaints is their policy that Premium Funzpoints expire after 60 days!
‘Premium Funzpoints will automatically expire after an account becomes Dormant. For these Sweepstakes Rules, “Dormant” means there has been no gameplay activity utilizing Premium Funzpoints for sixty (60) days.’
This isn’t in their Terms of Service but in their Sweepstakes rules.
Funzpoints USA would be average without this strange policy, with a heavily restricted and frankly obscure set of games to play. But given this policy, they must be considered one of the worst sites like Fortune Coins USA. Avoid them.
Pulsz is one of the few social casinos with a sister site on our list! We’ll show you that site briefly at the end of our mini-review.
This is another sweepstakes-optional site offering both Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins. But unlike Funzpoints, they have many popular licensed games from creators like Evoplay, Playson, 3 Oaks, and Pragmatic Play. That means you can enjoy the games you see in real-money online casinos without spending a dime!
Sadly, they share one thing in common with Funzpoints: A bad ‘buyback’ mechanic. If you ever sink below 50 Gold Coins, you can choose to play on one of their ‘infinity machines’. Currently, that means penny-slots using either Legends Of Ra or Fish Reef. One of these will get you back to 50 Gold Coins again in time, but you have to ask yourself: Why didn’t they give you a decent amount to play with after you bust out? Is it strictly to encourage more micro transactions?
Still, you can always play with your Sweepstakes Coins balance if you have any, and of course, that can be redeemed for real money prizes. And like the other sweepstakes sites in the USA, you can write in to get free entry via a handwritten letter. Full details can be found in the Official Pulsz Sweepstakes Rules.
We mentioned that Pulsz has a sister site. It’s called Pulszbingo, and unlike the leading site, it only uses Gold Coins. That’s right, they have no sweepstakes. They only make money if you accelerate your play money balance with a real purchase.
But unlike the leading site, Pulszbingo has a generous reload mechanism. The free Bingo room offers plenty of Gold Coins and is a fun turbo format.
Pulsz Casino Games
In addition to all of the slots seen on the main Pulsz casino site, bingo rooms are everywhere here. Four or more rooms are firing at any time, including that free room we already mentioned. There’s also a grand prize room that only fires every day or so.
Because they’re focused on fun and not a sweepstakes, this is an accurate low-pressure site like Wow Vegas, which we’ll discuss soon. Pulszbingo scores an impressive 4.1 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot, reflecting the fun factor and customer service.
As for the casino version of Pulsz, it’s a great site, easily in the top three social casinos on our list. If it had a better buyback mechanic, there’s no doubt that it would be competing neck-and-neck with the top sites like Fortune Coins. Still, due to the high-quality games and good customer service, they scored a 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot as of early September 2023. These two sister sites are well worth your time if you tire of Fortune Coins USA or want some great free bingo action!
If you were wondering which sites like Fortune Coins represented their closest competition, look no further than Wow Vegas.
Wow Vegas doesn’t have sweepstakes and only uses the Wow Coins credit system. As you’re about to see, microtransactions are entirely optional.
Games include slots from Betsoft, Pragmatic Play, Bgaming, Booming, 3 Oaks, Playnova, and Habanero, among others. They have over 450 games as of early September 2023. The search bar in every lobby will help you find the game you want. The home page also tracks your recently played games and displays them at the top of your game list.
Wow Vegas Bonuses
Wow, Vegas is one of the most generous sites for reloading after a bustout. Reducing your balance below 15 would be best, and Wow Vegas will automatically offer you 15,000 Wow Coins. Just go to a low-stakes machine like Wilds of Fortune from Betsoft. Keep betting until you get below 15 coins, and the reload will pop up!
A 15,000 balance will let you play many low-stakes games, take some big shots at jackpots, and reload again if things don’t pan out. If you want to avoid going through this little ritual, that’s where microtransactions come in. A million Wow Coins is ten bucks. It depends on how much your time is worth to you.
No wonder they have a Trustpilot score of 4.2 stars out of 5. Their customer service is top-notch. Account creation and validation are a breeze. The only reason they aren’t tied with Fortune Coins is the need for sweepstakes, but in many ways, that’s better in our book. Removing real money from the equation altogether makes the fun more pure.
For sheer fun factor, Wow Vegas is just behind Fortune Coins USA and ranks just slightly ahead of Pulsz and Pulszbingo in our books (though the latter is still the best bingo site on our list).
The final social casino site, Fortune Coins, is the exciting and slightly strange Chumba Casino. Why is it interesting? The ownership. And why is it strange? The ownership.
The Chumba sister casinos are owned by VGW, meaning their Chairman and CEO is Laurence Escalante. Laurence is both a well-known philanthropist and a hardcore party animal. As such, it shouldn’t be surprising that he recently flew into Australia with LSD, coke, and E in his bag after an extended bender in Las Vegas.
There’s a certain irony when you compare the owner’s wild-by-nature lifestyle to the site’s borderline paranoia regarding security. The first thing that happened when we tried to log into Chumba Casino was a warning about attempting to access their location using a VPN service.
We weren’t using a VPN service, instead opting for a custom packet forwarding system that allowed us to mask our web browser’s fingerprint. As many users know, browser fingerprinting is a significant security concern. Most VPNs do next to nothing to disguise your device and browser fingerprint.
But instead of focusing on the genuine security concerns of their clients, Chumba Casino wanted to know everything about us, despite not needing to do any identification at that stage. We still needed to sign up for an account. We still need to attempt to create a log in.
Their Trustpilot rating might reflect some of this paranoia, ranking a tepid 3.8 out of 5 stars. That might be great for regular casinos, but for social casinos, less. The only site on our list with a lower rating is Funzpoints.
But the low rating might reflect their lack of games. They only had about 150 titles in early September 2023. That said, they provide some options for bingo and slingo in addition to regular table games and slots. The variety of game categories over their available titles may be valuable.
Chumba Casino is using a two-tier credit system, like most sweepstakes sites. You can write in to get more of their premium credits, equating to free sweepstakes entries. Complete rules are in the website’s Chumba Casino Sweeps Rules section, but assume handwritten letters as usual for these social casinos.
This is a lower-end option when considering sites like Fortune Coins USA. We don’t like any site that requests you turn off your VPN, never mind places that don’t know the difference between a VPN service and other security measures.
It should be noted that Chumba Casino does have two sister sites. Their ratings don’t measure up. Global Poker and Luckyland Slots have Trustpilot ratings of 2.7 and 2.2, respectively (as of early September 2023). Their documentation shows severe RTP issues, including theoretical RTPs as low as 90%. Global Poker also started to delete players’ Sweepstakes Coin balances after 90 days, causing a massive uproar. There’s little doubt why their ratings have cratered over the past few months.
With sites like Pulsz, Wow Vegas, and Fortune Coins available, there’s no reason to give the Chumba Casino sister sites a second thought.
Who Owns Fortune Coins?
Ultimately, Fortune Coins USA is owned by BlazeSoft. Yes, the addresses at the bottom of the page are for ‘Social Gaming LLC‘ and ‘Social Gaming LTD‘ out of the US and Canada, respectively. But those are shell companies, so BlazeSoft can limit their liability. They admit ownership on their LinkedIn page.
BlazeSoft is a Canadian company that develops social casino properties and assets. And without a doubt, Fortune Coins is their most significant success. They were founded in 2016 with the idea that they could develop casinos that complied with the general US restrictions surrounding the online gambling industry. They decided to leverage micro transactions and sweepstakes laws to accomplish their goals, and the rest is history.
An Honest Fortune Coins US Review
If you’ve read… well, any of our other reviews, you know we aren’t afraid to come out swinging here at Sister Casinos. We can be downright critical of casinos subverting industry practices or trying to fool their players.
That’s why you shouldn’t take it lightly when we say that Fortune Coins is the best social casino in North America. There are perhaps one to two others who come close, but in the end, it isn’t content.
Why? Fortune Coins USA uses game makers like Blazesoft, Booming Games, FC, Pragmatic, Spinmatic, Reelplay, and KA Gaming. Hundreds of slots and table games are on offer from some of the very best companies in the industry.
This is important because it means you can look up the RTP of these games on each manufacturer’s website. Variable RTP games have settings in the game’s help or info section.
The site itself is simple and yet elegant. You can use the search bar from the public lobby to look for the name of a specific game or all games from the provider of your choice.
Fortune Coins Reputation
This high level of trust is probably why their 4.7 out of 5 Trustpilot score (in early September 2023) remains the highest of the significant social casinos in North America. In an industry often cluttered with sour grapes, having a mere 4% of your reviews turn out to be one-star ratings is borderline miraculous. Even the most highly regulated, big-budget real money online casinos rarely approach that level of approval.
Let’s talk about how sites like Fortune Coins work. Some social casinos have only one type of ‘play money’ currency, and they strictly make their money off micro transactions that boost your play money bankroll.
Then, some sites run a sweepstakes in addition to their play money traffic. Fortune Coins is a sweepstakes site. Therefore, they use both Gold Coins and Fortune Coins.
Gold Coins are strictly ‘play money’. You can use them to mess around with any licensed professional games Fortune Coins has. You can dramatically boost your Gold Coins balance with micro transactions if you want to.
On the other hand, Fortune Coins are the site’s Sweepstakes currency. We’ll discuss how this works briefly, but by following a specific set of instructions, Fortune Coins can be exchanged for real money.
New players get 360k in Gold Coins and 1k in Fortune Coins. Playing the various games around the site correctly will increase or decrease your balance. Of course, micro transactions can be used to buy more of each type of coin. However, it should be noted that weekly and monthly promotions, found online and as part of the site’s social media presence, can boost your coin balances. There are also loyalty programs that can earn you more coins as long as you log in at least once a day.
Given that Fortune Coins are essential real money equivalents (despite what the Terms and Conditions might say), it’s worth examining the RTP of some of the site’s slot machines.
A somewhat typical slot on the site is Horror Hotel from Relax Gaming. It’s a six-reel, six-pay line slot with a max payout of 20,000 for the original bet. This one has exceptionally high volatility. But overall, we’re talking about a 96.5% RTP slot. Good!
For those who like their slots sexy at a slight hit to your odds, Book of the Priestess from Evoplay is a five-reel, 10-pay line slot machine. It sports a 95.96% RTP rating, close to the industry standard today.
If MegaWays is more your style, Great Rhino Megaways from Pragmatic Play will be of some interest to you. This 96.5% RTP modern classic has 200,704 ways to win. It also spikes a 5/5 on Pragmatic’s volatility chart, so you aren’t likely to have a boring time.
You’ll likely get these machines on sites like Fortune Coins that pay their license fees for accurate slot titles. Almost all can be played in both Gold Coin and Fortune Coin modes.
Sites like Fortune Coins USA need a free entry method into their sweepstakes to comply with the US laws for online social casinos. Fortune Coins has a Sweeps Rules document that lists all the requirements for free entry. Don’t be shocked: They make it so that the process cannot be automated, which means handwritten letters and specific envelope sizes. They’ll credit 500 Fortune Coins to your account if you follow the process strictly.
Their micro transactions are generous, giving you tangible money equivalent in Fortune Coins and a copious amount of Gold Coins to play with. Subscribe to their social media channels for seasonal offers as well.
As mentioned, we consider Fortune Coins the best social casino site in North America. When you combine their excellent slot selection, transparency as far as RTP is concerned, generous offers, and top-notch support, it’s easy to see why they score so highly on Trustpilot.
But you should still check out some of our Fortune Coins alternatives. At least two sites are very high on our list of social casinos, and one has no sweepstakes at all, which is a very different take on things.
Is Fortune Coins Safe and Legit?
As one of the pioneers of leveraging sweepstakes laws in the US and Canada, Fortune Coins blazed the trail of legitimacy for dozens, if not hundreds, of other social casinos that operate in North America.
We’ll get into the details briefly, but the secret to running a sweepstakes casino in the USA is offering free entry methods. And Fortune Coins does just that, with their write-in option that can earn you free sweepstakes currency that gets credited to your account.
Regarding legitimacy, respectable sites like Fortune Coins use games with publicly available Return To Player (RTP) stats. That means not just using in-house titles with tested RTP percentages but licensing and using some of the most popular games seen in real money online casinos, with RTP figures that can be looked up on each game creator’s website.
We’ll cover their public review scores during our honest Fortune Coins review. Still, another significant note is that the Better Business Bureau received exactly two complaints about Social Gaming LLC in the past seven years. And both of them settled privately, with no public details available. That’s an impressive track record.
Wrapping It All Up
Writing reviews about a front runner social casino site like Fortune Coins USA seems easy. The majority of their customers love them. A lot of the industry loves them. They’re a template for how all sweepstakes-based online gambling sites should be set up for the North American crowd. What’s not to like?
There’s the argument that the entire sweepstakes thing is a dodge or a loophole that allows people to gamble for real money via online slots and table games without holding a license, even though there are laws against that in the USA. And if that’s your stance, then sites like Wow Vegas provide a compelling alternative.
Vegas is the number two site like Fortune Coins but has zero involvement with the sweepstakes dodge. People who want to play purely for fun can do so. And if they will use micro transactions to boost their fake money account and value their ‘grinding’ time that highly, they can do so. There’s no illusion of winning big because no real money rewards exist.
This same theory would apply to Pulszbingo. They still need to join the sweepstakes rat race, and they have some super generous bingo bonus rooms where you can get a lot of free chips to play with. So that covers our bingo enthusiasts without resorting to inferior sites on the list. So, anyone with a legal or moral objection to playing at places offering sweepstakes will be relieved that such sites exist.
But for most people, none of the sites like Fortune Casino, measure up to the original. It’s hard to beat their package of great licensed games, good support, a reasonable loyalty program that keeps the play money rolling in, and a relaxed atmosphere. You can play the site perfectly well without using micro transactions or opting into the sweepstakes craze.
We’ll continue to monitor Fortune Coins for future developments. But at the moment (early September 2023), they are the best social casino in the USA or Canada. Long live the king.
