The main thing to remember about the William Hill sister sites is that only one was part of their original idea. Mr. Green was purchased in early 2019 when they bought out MRG. 888 became a sister site when they bought out William Hill. This particular family was primarily adopted.

In real money online casinos, someone has to be below average.

At Sister Casinos, we often see the extremes of the industry. We get excited when we find hidden gems out there because we get to share them with our community.

And we get outraged when we see apparent scam sites because it’s our instinct to protect the community from institutions that want nothing more than to victimize them. But occasionally, we run across a group of casinos like the William Hill sister sites. There are a couple of real stinkers in here, which we’ll discuss. But as a whole, they fall into the ‘sub-par‘ range.

The extremes, good or bad, are at least interesting. A group of below-average sister sites causes us to sigh, roll our eyes, and wish we were on vacation.

Let’s delve into the main William Hill sister sites. Then we’ll continue with William Hill’s history and tell you about the story so far. Then we’ll hop into a comprehensive William Hill review.

Reviews of William Hill Sister Sites

But we’re troopers at Sister Casinos, so we’re going to slog through the four main William Hill sister sites so that you have all the information you need to make an educated decision. There are a couple of exciting things, like the fact that two of the sites share one domain name. And there’s some juicy regulatory action that we can talk about.

For the most part, we will deliver the facts as efficiently as possible and then show you some casinos like William Hill that might catch your fancy.

Let’s examine these three William Hill sister sites, and then if you are still looking for a different selection, we’ll look at a couple of casinos like William Hill to see if you prefer those.

William Hill Vegas – William Hill Sister Sites

William Hill Vegas Homepage
William Hill Vegas Homepage

This online casino is the ‘site-within-a-site’ we discussed earlier. It’s a subdomain of William Hill and thus runs under the same operating license, but generally speaking, it has its promotions, advertising budget, and branding.

This is the online casino operation of William Hill. We’ve made insinuations that this division might be responsible for driving down the site’s overall TrustPilot rating. But why would we think that’s the case?

Is William Hill Vegas Safe?

Well, here are some examples of recent reviews that could only apply to the Vegas brand (only edited for grammar):

“Their win ratio has dropped, and they are screwing many people out of their money. We all know the house always wins, but they must allow customers to play slots and Slingo“.

“It seems since William Hill had their fine, they have drastically lowered the win ratio on their games. Wagered a lot of many times to reach bonus rounds and have been getting about 10% back“.

“Stay away from this house- random payouts are ZERO. I had a bad experience and honestly don’t recommend it to anyone”.

This is all from the past seven days (in mid-June 2023 if you want to look up the original comments). Now it isn’t uncommon to see people complain about poor odds at a casino, far from it. But when that’s what most of the one-star complaints are about, it’s time to do some digging.

William Hill Vegas Return to Player Rates

These people have the right to complain about the win percentage at William Hill Vegas. Some of their most advertised slots have a sub-93% RTP.

Take this front page, darling, Rainbow Power Potz UltraNudge. First of all, really, what kind of name is that?! But more importantly, why are you pushing this 90.5% RTP garbage on the unsuspecting public? It has many complex betting features, but you will need more than that to help you if you lose 9.5% of your Stake on the average rollover!

The result of the multiple-press-release partnership with Live 5, called William Hill Vegas Lightning Lines, has a low 92% RTP.

Their feature Strike Gold Spotlight game is Play N’ Go’s Gerard’s Gambit. Of course, when you go to the info page for the game, they leave out the RTP. Why is that an issue? Anyone who has set up these Play N’ Go games knows it has six possible RTP settings! It could be as high as 96.2% or as low as 87.2%. Who knows what they’ve set it at or when they plan to change it?

Of the six ‘random’ games they’ve featured on their front page’s Playtech casino selection, Gold Rush Cash Collect is 95.65% RTPBlue Wizard is 93.69% RTP, and the other four (William Hill Football Cash CollectBuffalo BlitzEpic Ape, and Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect) are between 92.42% and 92.54% RTP. One out of the six is decent, and the rest are money pits.

It’s safe to say that most people unthinkingly trying out these highly publicized games are falling victim to low RTP and therefore leave the kind of reviews mentioned above.

Now that you know you must research if you play slots at William Hill Vegas let’s look at all the menu options.

Games

William Hill bingo, slots, slingo, and table games are all available. On the Bingo side, the Bargain Basement room offers 90 ball games for 5p or less. Conversely, VIP club rooms are sometimes available for up to £10 a card.

As of mid-June 2023, there are about three dozen slingo choices and plenty of table games. As always, Blackjack is your best RTP (over 99% with a good play on a standard table). Avoid most side bets, which can dip into the low 90% range. There’s an excellent selection of live casino games, with most RTPs ranging from 95% to 98%.

Bonuses And Deposit Options

New players can take advantage of the William Hill Free Spins Bonus Offer. If you opt-in and wager £10, you redeem your one hundred free 10p spins on Golden Fields from the Promotions page. You can win up to £30 on these spins. Note that there is a deposit type restriction on this:

“Deposits made by Entropay, PayPal, Neosurf, iDEAL, NETELLER, Skrill, ecoPayz, Kalibra, or Postepay do not qualify for this promotion”.

This detail upsets people who still need to read the terms and conditions.

Other small bonuses and perks, like periodic William Hill Vegas free spins on their exclusive slots or daily ‘Drop and Win’ attempts, are available. But most of the good perks are on the sportsbook side.

William Hill Vegas casino is generally an underwhelming experience. Generally speaking: People who came to the site for the sportsbook should focus on that, and people who went for the casino should look elsewhere.

Mr. Green – William Hill Sister Sites

Mr Green Casino Homepage
Mr Green Casino Homepage

Through the acquisition, Mr. Green became a William Hill sister site, but it was rapidly made part of the family.

How do we know?

Do you see that William Hill is ‘exclusive,’ Taroh’s Tale? Do you see it again on Mr. Green? It must not be that exclusive. We know it’s the wrong slot, with a lowly 92.18% RTP.

But we’re getting off on the wrong foot here. Let’s give Mr. Green a fair shake.

Mr. Green RTP

At first glance, you see a well-structured casino homepage. If you aren’t logged in, you can’t click on a game to see its information, such as RTP… annoying, but there are other resources to find such things.

For example, Sheba Lightning Lines and 77 Sunset Strip are Live five games. So if we go to their website, we see… 92% RTP. Wonderful.

At least the John Hunter & the Tomb of the Scarab Queen slot is 96.50% RTP, according to Pragmatic Play. But three of the four first slots displayed on the site are absolute stomach-turners.

The relatively low RTP explains the TrustPilot reviews complaining about dipping win rates. But they do not explain the many complaints about slow or blocked payouts. They’ve replied to less than 15% of their negative reviews and seem to engage in the ‘duck and cover’ strategy for bad press.

Games

Another curiosity is their ‘new’ games section. Wanting to see how often it gets refreshed, we checked out some of the selections that looked familiar. For reference, this is being written in mid-June 2023.

Play N’ Go’s Animal Madness was present on the New Games page, despite being released on 19 May 2022. Live 5’s Royal Tiger Lightning Lines was released on 04 April 2022. And neither is new to Mr Green. So they consider games well over a year old to be ‘new.’ Not a great sign of attentiveness or attention to detail.

But now we’re in a bizarre rabbit hole because, while researching the exclusivity and longevity of these games, I stumbled upon a redirected cache of phishing advertisements in Mr. Green’s ad archive.

ImportantDO NOT click on the ads in those search results. They’re blatant phishing attempts trying to farm your personal information—probably the result of an old Mr. Green ad being replaced by a third-party ad agency.

That still begs the question: Why are the redirects to these pages cached on Mr. Green’s domain? The sane thing to do when dealing with third-party advertisers is to delete all links to them after the ad campaign is over. What in the heck is going on here?

Server or ad archive mismanagement aside (though that kind of sloppiness could be a better sign), Mr. Green is a reskin of William Hill + William Hill Vegas but less transparent to users who still need to log in. There’s little new or unique to say about the content or games of the site itself.

There’s not much more to say about Mr Green. Given the apparent lack of attention to detail when maintaining it, we can’t recommend this William Hill sister site. If you want this same experience on less sketchy servers, go to William Hill Vegas. Otherwise, see if this upcoming review of 888 tickles your fancy, or stay tuned for a couple of casinos like William Hill.

888 Casino – William Hill Sister Sites

888 Casino Homepage
888 Casino Homepage

Since 888 bought all of the other William Hill sister sites, it makes sense that it will have a different look and feel.

And it does. The game lineup is entirely different, although you can only use the site to research the RTPs of the table games if you create an account. But there is a decent mix of 96.5% RTP machines from NetEnt and Wazdan (in addition to the occasional sub-94% stinker).

The obvious thing that 888 needs is a sportsbook. If you want to wager on the ponies or the next football match, William Hill is the best option out of these sister sites.

Their extensive live casino selection caters to micro budgets and high rollers. Wagers range from 10p up to £3,000 per game! So whatever your taste for live-action might be, 888 likely has you covered.

Payments

We should cover deposit methods since, as we mentioned, this site started outside the William Hill network and has a different structure. They accept Credit, Debit, PaySafePlus, Paypal, Apple Pay, Trustly, and Luxon. On the withdrawal side, they can facilitate a bank draft or cheque most of the time, in addition to those mediums listed above.

Bonuses

The bonus requirements are coupled with a quite reasonable 30x rollover within 90 days requirement, Bonus only. So, for example, the 100% Up To £200 Bonus rolled over thirty times on a 96.5% RTP machine would pretty much break even, on average. That means you could clear some or all of the bonus amount with a few lucky hits. You can consider an 88 Spin No Deposit Bonus (each spin for 0.10 on their chosen slot).

Most of this is reasonable. So what’s the catch?

888 has one of the worst TrustPilot ratings for UK-licensed casinos. Reports of inadequate support and hellishly slow ID verification processes are standard. Blocking people who defy the odds and win regularly is another common theme. They are one of the most despised casinos in the UK, scoring only a 1.4 out of 5 as of mid-June 2023, which is worse than any of the other William Hill sister sites… and worse than most popular real money online casinos worldwide.

This is highly unfortunate, given their reasonable bonus offers, broad gaming options, and ability to cater to high rollers and penny ante players. We’ll continue to monitor 888 Casino to see if their process and customer service improve.

Let’s talk about some casinos like William Hill that you might find preferable.

A Short History of William Hill

William Hill Homepage
William Hill Homepage

William Hill started as a UK brick-and-mortar bookmaker back in the 1930s. Over the years, it has been owned by Sears Holdings, Grand Metropolitan, Brent Walker, Japanese investment bank Nomura, stockholders, itself, Caesars Entertainment, and finally, 888 Holdings!

Throughout the years, they increased the scope of their business to encompass the physical casino business and, of course, online casinos and bookmakers.

William Hill License

The business quickly became popular enough to be split into UK and International divisions. The UK branch is headquartered in London, while the international branch is led from Malta.

This leads us to talk about how William Hill licenses its online casinos. For the UK side of their licensing, they register independent companies for each domain. So the UK Gambling Commission registration number for William Hill and William Hill Vegas (who use the same root domain name) is 39225. For Mr. Green, they’re registered as 39264. And, of course, their current owner, 888 Holdings, has several hundred casinos operating in the UK under license number 39028.

For the international side, William Hill Global PLC (Malta business registration number C96298) has a Malta Gaming Authority license: MGA/CRP/121/2006-05. Mr. Green Limited (Malta business registration number C43260) has a Malta Gaming Authority license: MGA/CRP/121/2006-01. And the 888 Holdings PLC (Gibraltar business registration number 90099) has a Malta Gaming Authority license: MGA/CRP/543/2018.

Is William Hill Safe?

You probably already know that all three of these companies have received regulatory action from the Uk government. While William Hill and Mr. Green were smart enough to settle and change their operating policies (for around a quarter million Pounds each), 888 took the sanctioned right to the forehead. In February 2022, they were fined £9,409,756.48 under a Section 121 violation.

But that wasn’t the end of their regulatory woes. In early Q2 2023, the companies were nailed with a combined £19.2 million fine. They ignored hundreds of self-exclusion listings, according to the investigation.

That brings us up to date. Let’s do a comprehensive William Hill review so that you can see the context of all this, and then we’ll dive into the complexity of the William Hill sister sites.

A Comprehensive William Hill Review

One important thing to note: William Hill is the name of the sportsbook side of William Hill Global’s online operations. William Hill Vegas is a sister site hosted on the same domain. So we’ll cover the casino aspects separately in the next section under William Hill Vegas.

Most of the positive aspects of William Hill’s reputation likely come from the sportsbook side. That’s why William Hill has a neutral TrustPilot rating of 2.1 as of mid-June 2023. 2.1 could be better for online casinos, but it’s okay. And without William Hill Vegas dragging its score down, the bookmaker side of the business would likely be rated even higher. More on that later.

William Hill Sportsbook Review

The sportsbook side is an absolute machine. They cover 37 categories, including traditional sports, combat sports, racing, E-sports, and event-based betting, such as political election results. They even have live race feeds, acting as an OTB center in addition to their other live gameday features.

They’ll typically have between 50 and 100 in-play sessions running at any time. All of the regular live gameday wagers are present for most sports (total score, next score, final result, penalties, etc.), and in some cases, the weirder stuff (subsequent punishment, ejections, etc.).

William Hill’s sportsbook isn’t the prettiest interface we’ve ever seen, but it’s one of the easiest to navigate and get a quick bet. And outside of bonus offers (which we’ll cover shortly), it has some of the most interesting event-based promotions.

Sportsbooks have a certain amount of ‘discretionary points’ to play with. In other words, they set the odds so that they’re going to win against the average punter in the long run, but a certain percentage of their profits are invested back into the pool to excite critical events.

For example, currently, they’re running a Golf Bet and Getting on the First Round Leader of the US Open. If you put down at least a £5 bet on a round leader (at 2:1 odds or longer), you’ll get a second £5 golf bet for free. That’s fine because their losses are limited, and it encourages activity that the whales (people with more money than sense) follow.

Bonuses

A diligent sports betting semi-pro could chisel some extra EV if they regularly take on this ‘hype’ offer. Weekly Epic Boosts on the William Hill horse racing side can also help you leverage critical information that you might have about specific horses or races. They’ll add an extra 25% to 100% yields for that one race, £5 max wager. It’s not much, but never turn down free EVs.

There’s also a free longshot that you can try to get part of a prize pool that can be used for free football bets. It’s called Free or 4. Pick six football matches from the list that will finish with 3 to 4 total goals. Winners get free football bets credited to their accounts.

For new sign-ups with William Hill, a minimum deposit of £10; the sportsbook side will offer Three Bonus £10 Bets on qualifying sportsbook events. William Hill’s promotional offers have been known to change from season to season, so keep an eye out.

Speaking of the William Hill minimum deposit details, the actual minimum amount will depend on your method, but it is generally between £5 and £10.

William Hill Payments

Deposit methods (depending on your home country) include Visa Credit, Visa Debit, William Hill Cashdirect, William Hill Plus Card, Todito, PaySafePlus, ecoPayz, Skrill, Neteller, Paypal, Apple Pay, bank deposit, EPS, Sofort, Trustly, Giro Pay, and TrueLayer. That’s a ton of options.

Withdrawal methods include Visa Credit, Visa Debit, William Hill Cashdirect, ecoPayz, Skrill, Neteller, Paypal, TrueLayer, and Bank Transfer.

William Hill is a solid sportsbook. It’s a real pity about the casino side of the business.

William Hill Pros

  • Solid seasonal and event-based incentives.
  • Weekly Epic Boosts, used wisely, can help your EV.
  • Good new sign-up offer.

William Hill Cons

  • Layout feels a little dated.
  • Reputation tarnished by the William Hill Casino side of the operation.

Casinos Like William Hill

The obvious choice here, if you’re specifically looking for UK-licensed sites, is BetVictor. We’ve done a full breakdown of the BetVictor sister sites, and they’re a good match for everything William Hill offers, with a higher TrustPilot rating.

But the UK has a lovely little hidden gem if you want to try something different. We call it Stake.

Casinos Like William Hill – Mini Review Of Stake

Stake Casino Homepage
Stake Casino Homepage

If you’re more concerned with getting the deposit method you like rather than bonuses, Stake is the site you’re looking for. Not only is it beloved by the gaming community, but it’s fully licensed in the UK.

Payments

There are three main reasons why Stake is the best casino like William Hill. Firstly, of course, are the valid deposit methods. Stake accepts all significant cryptocurrencies, MoonPay, and Remik. Moonpay and Remik can turn traditional currencies into cryptocurrencies ready for deposit without setting up your E-wallet.

Betting Options

Secondly, they have a large array of sports betting options. Thousands of sports books and virtual sports matches are available anytime, including hundreds of E-sports wagers from major leagues. It rivals William Hill’s selection and, in many cases, beats it.

Thirdly, although it isn’t an exact profile match, they have an impressive casino and live gaming options. There are plenty of reskinned slot machines with identical mechanics to what you’d find on William Hill, and live roulette, Blackjack, and other games available as well.

One of the most exciting features of Stake is its dedication to live gaming from around the world. For example, they have a live Andar Bahar table, a live Dragon Tiger table, and a live Sic Bo table. Only a few casinos dedicate resources to running these diverse games!

Stake Return to Player

The Stake is highly transparent about its Return To Player (RTP) percentage. Their RTP page even lists the margins for their virtual sporting events. It’s great to see a lot of up-front honesty in the industry, and having a separate, searchable page that lists all of the critical RTP facts is an OK gesture of respect towards Stake’s players.

As mentioned, sign-up bonuses aren’t usually a thing at Stake, though occasionally, a special offer might pop up for reloads or free sports bets. But remember that William Hill’s sister sites had a reputation for not always paying out promptly if at all it’s easy to offer huge bonuses if you hold onto players’ money for as long as possible or until they get frustrated and give up their efforts to claim their winnings.

Having a reliable, well-reviewed site like Stake is a boon. Their ability to accept Crypto adds some icing to an already tasty cake.

Summing It All Up

Between the BetVictor sister sites and Stake, you have plenty of highly rated options representing much more reliable casinos like William Hill.

But as we mentioned, William Hill seems solid enough if you stick to the sportsbook side. It’s the William Hill sister sites that disappoint. And unfortunately, because William Hill Vegas is a drag on the leading site’s TrustPilot rating, we’ll never know how the leading William Hill brand would score independently.

We’ll continue to monitor the William Hill sister sites for improvement. Until then, try the BetVictor sister sites, or have a nice Stake!
