Well, here are some examples of recent reviews that could only apply to the Vegas brand (only edited for grammar):

“Their win ratio has dropped, and they are screwing many people out of their money. We all know the house always wins, but they must allow customers to play slots and Slingo“.

“It seems since William Hill had their fine, they have drastically lowered the win ratio on their games. Wagered a lot of many times to reach bonus rounds and have been getting about 10% back“.

“Stay away from this house- random payouts are ZERO. I had a bad experience and honestly don’t recommend it to anyone”.

This is all from the past seven days (in mid-June 2023 if you want to look up the original comments). Now it isn’t uncommon to see people complain about poor odds at a casino, far from it. But when that’s what most of the one-star complaints are about, it’s time to do some digging.

William Hill Vegas Return to Player Rates

These people have the right to complain about the win percentage at William Hill Vegas. Some of their most advertised slots have a sub-93% RTP.

Take this front page, darling, Rainbow Power Potz UltraNudge. First of all, really, what kind of name is that?! But more importantly, why are you pushing this 90.5% RTP garbage on the unsuspecting public? It has many complex betting features, but you will need more than that to help you if you lose 9.5% of your Stake on the average rollover!

The result of the multiple-press-release partnership with Live 5, called William Hill Vegas Lightning Lines, has a low 92% RTP. 

Their feature Strike Gold Spotlight game is Play N’ Go’s Gerard’s Gambit. Of course, when you go to the info page for the game, they leave out the RTP. Why is that an issue? Anyone who has set up these Play N’ Go games knows it has six possible RTP settings! It could be as high as 96.2% or as low as 87.2%. Who knows what they’ve set it at or when they plan to change it?

Of the six ‘random’ games they’ve featured on their front page’s Playtech casino selection, Gold Rush Cash Collect is 95.65% RTP, Blue Wizard is 93.69% RTP, and the other four (William Hill Football Cash Collect, Buffalo Blitz, Epic Ape, and Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect) are between 92.42% and 92.54% RTP. One out of the six is decent, and the rest are money pits.

It’s safe to say that most people unthinkingly trying out these highly publicized games are falling victim to low RTP and therefore leave the kind of reviews mentioned above.

But we’re getting off on the wrong foot here. Let’s give Mr. Green a fair shake.

Mr. Green RTP

At first glance, you see a well-structured casino homepage. If you aren’t logged in, you can’t click on a game to see its information, such as RTP… annoying, but there are other resources to find such things.

For example, Sheba Lightning Lines and 77 Sunset Strip are Live five games. So if we go to their website, we see… 92% RTP. Wonderful.

At least the John Hunter & the Tomb of the Scarab Queen slot is 96.50% RTP, according to Pragmatic Play. But three of the four first slots displayed on the site are absolute stomach-turners.

The relatively low RTP explains the TrustPilot reviews complaining about dipping win rates. But they do not explain the many complaints about slow or blocked payouts. They’ve replied to less than 15% of their negative reviews and seem to engage in the ‘duck and cover’ strategy for bad press.

Games

Another curiosity is their ‘new’ games section. Wanting to see how often it gets refreshed, we checked out some of the selections that looked familiar. For reference, this is being written in mid-June 2023.

Play N’ Go’s Animal Madness was present on the New Games page, despite being released on 19 May 2022. Live 5’s Royal Tiger Lightning Lines was released on 04 April 2022. And neither is new to Mr Green. So they consider games well over a year old to be ‘new.’ Not a great sign of attentiveness or attention to detail.

But now we’re in a bizarre rabbit hole because, while researching the exclusivity and longevity of these games, I stumbled upon a redirected cache of phishing advertisements in Mr. Green’s ad archive.

Important: DO NOT click on the ads in those search results. They’re blatant phishing attempts trying to farm your personal information—probably the result of an old Mr. Green ad being replaced by a third-party ad agency.

That still begs the question: Why are the redirects to these pages cached on Mr. Green’s domain? The sane thing to do when dealing with third-party advertisers is to delete all links to them after the ad campaign is over. What in the heck is going on here?

Server or ad archive mismanagement aside (though that kind of sloppiness could be a better sign), Mr. Green is a reskin of William Hill + William Hill Vegas but less transparent to users who still need to log in. There’s little new or unique to say about the content or games of the site itself.

There’s not much more to say about Mr Green. Given the apparent lack of attention to detail when maintaining it, we can’t recommend this William Hill sister site. Since 888 bought all of the other William Hill sister sites, it makes sense that it will have a different look and feel.

And it does. The game lineup is entirely different, although you can only use the site to research the RTPs of the table games if you create an account. But there is a decent mix of 96.5% RTP machines from NetEnt and Wazdan (in addition to the occasional sub-94% stinker).

The obvious thing that 888 needs is a sportsbook. If you want to wager on the ponies or the next football match, William Hill is the best option out of these sister sites. 

Their extensive live casino selection caters to micro budgets and high rollers. Wagers range from 10p up to £3,000 per game! So whatever your taste for live-action might be, 888 likely has you covered.

We should cover deposit methods since, as we mentioned, this site started outside the William Hill network and has a different structure. For the international side, William Hill Global PLC (Malta business registration number C96298) has a Malta Gaming Authority license: MGA/CRP/121/2006-05. Mr. Green Limited (Malta business registration number C43260) has a Malta Gaming Authority license: MGA/CRP/121/2006-01. And the 888 Holdings PLC (Gibraltar business registration number 90099) has a Malta Gaming Authority license: MGA/CRP/543/2018.

Is William Hill Safe?

You probably already know that all three of these companies have received regulatory action from the Uk government. While William Hill and Mr. Green were smart enough to settle and change their operating policies (for around a quarter million Pounds each), 888 took the sanctioned right to the forehead. In February 2022, they were fined £9,409,756.48 under a Section 121 violation.

But that wasn’t the end of their regulatory woes. In early Q2 2023, the companies were nailed with a combined £19.2 million fine. They ignored hundreds of self-exclusion listings, according to the investigation.
